A sense of place

A land-based safari with its own rhythm.

Savuti, also written Savute, is an inland corner of Chobe National Park with a character distinct from the riverfront. The channel, marsh landscapes and surrounding woodland create a setting for a safari built around time in the bush.

Choose Savuti when you want to give game drives room in the itinerary. Combining it with a Delta camp or a Chobe River stay lets you experience northern Botswana through contrasting habitats rather than repeating the same kind of stop.

Your safari, your way

What to do in Savuti.

01

Wildlife-focused drives

Leave time for unhurried game drives and the flexibility to follow what your guide finds. Specific predator sightings are never assured.

02

A changing landscape

The Savuti Channel’s history is part of the area’s identity. Flow and marsh conditions change, so do not select a camp on the assumption of permanent water.

03

Camp life between outings

Consider how you want to spend the middle of the day. A camp’s outlook, communal spaces and room style matter alongside the safari programme.

Plan it well

When to visit Savuti.

Seasonal conditions influence vegetation, heat and the feel of the landscape. Discuss both your travel month and the camp’s current operating conditions. A dry-season safari and a greener summer visit can offer very different settings.

Getting to Savuti.

Savuti is usually planned as its own stop in a northern Botswana route. Air and road arrangements depend on the camp and itinerary. Allow for the connections between Savuti, the riverfront and the Delta before choosing your number of nights.

How long to stay.

Three nights is a useful starting point for a dedicated Savuti stay. Keep enough time at the next camp to appreciate the contrast rather than using most of the journey to move between places.

Useful to know

Savuti safari FAQs.

Are Savuti and Savute the same place?

Both spellings are used for the same safari area. Individual camps may use one spelling in their names.

Does a Savuti safari include boating?

Do not assume so. Savuti is generally chosen for a land-based safari. Water activities must be confirmed with the specific camp rather than inferred from the channel’s name.

How long should I stay in Savuti?

Three nights is a useful starting point for a dedicated Savuti stay. Keep enough time at the next camp to appreciate the contrast rather than using most of the journey to move between places.

Can this be part of a tailor-made Botswana safari?

Yes. We can shape the route around your interests, preferred camp style and travel dates, then confirm connections and availability. Explore our suggested itineraries as a starting point.
